Pigmentation Spot Treatment

Pigmentation spots result from an accumulation of melanin, a natural pigment that determines the colour of our skin, hair, and eyes. These spots, often brown or black, typically appear on areas such as the face and hands, where the skin is most exposed to sunlight.

Some pigmentation spots are present from birth, but they often develop later in life due to factors such as skin ageing, hormonal changes, or UV exposure.

A laser treatment provides a gentle and effective way to address these unwanted pigmentation spots. By delivering targeted energy, the laser breaks down the melanin build-up without damaging the surrounding skin. The result is a visibly more even complexion that restores its natural radiance.

Pigmentation conditions

Certain pigmentation conditions can be persistent but can be effectively treated with our advanced laser technology. Below are common pigmentation issues we successfully treat:

Melasma (pregnancy mask): Uneven pigmentation caused by hormonal changes during pregnancy
Age spots (lentigines solaris): Dark spots resulting from prolonged sun exposure and skin ageing
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: Pigment spots that appear after skin trauma, such as acne or wounds
Medication-induced pigmentation: Skin discolouration caused by side effects of medication
Sun damage: Visible damage from years of UV exposure

How Does the Treatment Work?

Before the treatment, our laser specialist will provide you with all the necessary information. The treatment is performed quickly and safely, with minimal discomfort.

The final results depend on factors such as the depth of the pigmentation, the treatment area, and your skin type. You are always welcome to schedule a consultation for professional and personalised advice.

Preparation

To ensure optimal results, avoid sunbathing or using tanning beds for 4 to 6 weeks before treatment. Protect your skin with sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) to prevent damage.

Have you been exposed to UV radiation? If so, reschedule your appointment.
Ideally, arrive at your appointment without makeup, as this will facilitate the procedure.

Aftercare

Avoid sun exposure until your skin has fully healed, usually within 10 to 14 days. During this period, apply the recommended aftercare cream twice daily and do not touch or pick at scabs.

Always use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50, as UV radiation is harmful year-round. For pigmentation concerns, we recommend daily sun protection, both in summer and winter.

Aftercare Products

To minimize any discomfort after the treatment and maximize the results, we recommend the following product for aftercare.

Alhydran is also a sunscreen. This product protects AND nourishes at the same time. It was specifically developed for use after a laser treatment.

During your treatment at our practice, further explanation will be provided based on your skin type.
